Research and development policy of Hacettepe University, one of the leading higher education institutions of our country, covers the effective management of research and development processes with the principle of “To the Leading Edge… Towards Being the Best” with an approach that aims to ensure the sustainability of contribution to science in the national and global arena, to strengthen its research-oriented university identity, to spread entrepreneurship, to train qualified researchers, to develop cooperation among different disciplines and social responsibility understanding in line with the basic values such as merit, transparency, participation, society-oriented and seeking excellence, and with an understanding that;
The research policy has shifted from research priorities shaped by the personal curiosity and interests of researchers over the years to an understanding that prioritizes interdisciplinary studies that are suitable for the country’s needs and academic background. In this context, measures are taken to ensure the integration of research teams from different disciplines, to increase interdisciplinary studies and to produce outputs with high added value. The problems, needs, and search for solutions observed during the health services provided in our university hospitals play a triggering role for interdisciplinary researches carried out by research from the fields of medicine-health and science-engineering.
As a research-oriented university, we focus on improving our postgraduate education quality, and training qualified PhD staff by reducing our associate and undergraduate course load to increase our activities such as postgraduate education, research, publication and patent.
Research universities and their scientific contributions stands out with the services they provide to the society, and the knowledge and technology transfer services that they provide for different sectors through its researchers and graduates. Taking into account the role of commercialization of scientific researchers by turning them into products in the country’s economy and development, Hacettepe University strengthens the structure of Hacettepe Technopolis- Technology Transfer Center in line with current needs and opportunities in order to realize its research policies. Knowledge and technology transfer activities continue to develop in medicine-health sciences and social-humanities, especially in science- engineering sciences, reflecting all academic disciplines.
